Today is a day to remember… A few years ago today Mark stood at the alter and said “i do” to having to deal with me for the rest of his life. Boy, I’m sure he’s wishing he had thought that one through a little more! But, hey there’s no getting rid of me now!!!!
Happy Anniversary to the best husband in the world…
Love you LOTS - Meg
A few weeks ago Mark and I made the decision to move Mitchell to a new school. Not only is this school closer to home but in the long run we felt it would be a better place for Mitchell. The transition has been hard on all of us but we’re happy to report things are getting much better! Mitchell loves his new teacher, Hillary. The other day in his cubby we received the cutest note which of course I had to take a photo of to share (if you can’t read the words in the photo, I’ve copied them below):

“Dear Blue eyes,
It has been so fun to have you in my class! You surprise me daily with all you know! Mom and Dad sure have taught you well! You are so sweet and patient with all your new friends. You are great at listening and very obedient. I look forward to getting to know you better as the year moves along! See you soon!
Love, Ms. Hillary”
Mark and I were touched by this little note (especially the sentence that says Mom and Dad have taught you well!!!). We’re glad to see that Mitch has found a special place in his teachers heart as he has in ours.

The other morning Mark, Mitchell and I were sitting at the table eating breakfast. In Mark’s normal morning routine he sits and drinks his coffee while reading the Wall Street Journal occassionally looking up to engage in conversation with Mitch and I (!). Suddenly an article caught Mark’s eye and he read the headline outloud, “The latest craze, ice cream pedacures for kids at a hotel in Los Angeles.” My response, “ice cream pedicures, what are those?”
 |
Without Mark having time to respond Mitchell jumps in and says “I-Gream” while signing the sign language sign for ice cream. Mark and I look at each other and look back at Mitch as he continues to tell us, “I-Gream, I-Gream, please, I-Gream.” Mark then tells Mitch that we don’t have ice cream for breakfast but he can have some yogurt instead. “I-Gream, I-Gream, please” Mitch screams louder and louder. |
As the tears start to roll down Mitch’s face from the disappointment of not getting what he’s asked for, Mark and I laugh looking at each other in a bit of shock… I guess we have to watch what we say in the future, you never know when “flapper” will be listening!!!

Today we enjoyed the beautiful weather on the water. We took a boat cruise through the Ballard Locks, around Lake Union and through some of the Puget Sound. We had a great time and learned so many interesting little facts. More photos to come but for now one from on the boat…

Yesterday we went to spend the afternoon with Thomas the Tank Engine. We got to ride on Thomas’ train, the kids got train tattoos (Mitch wasn’t too sure about this!), played with train sets and we topped off the afternoon with ice cream while enjoying some live music. The weather was great and we had a blast!!! A must do next year.

Today was Molly’s 4th birthday!!! We celebrated with a BBQ in the backyard and ended the evening opening gifts, singing happy birthday and eating ice cream. Molly loved all the (12!) balls she got but she LOVED her very own bowl of ice cream the most.
Happy Birthday to the world’s best dog…

Mark and the kids took their bikes to the park on Sunday and I followed with the sag-wagon and lunch. We had a great time hanging out, playing on the swings, throwing the ball to Molly and checking out the farm animals. Great mini family adventure close to home.

After watching the HBO mini-series John Adams I have an even greater respect and feeling of awe for our forefathers. What amazing courage and dedication to define a whole new way of government while dealing with the British. I only wish that we had a few more like John Adams alive today to take our country to the next level. I don’t know about all of you, but this two-party system just seems broken. OK, enough politics!
What I really sat down to blog about was the great time we had on the 4th. Every year we look forward to the family BBQ and fireworks display. It was so much fun spending time just lounging around (after we painted the bathroom!) and enjoying each others company.

From our family to yours… enjoy the day!

Mitchell’s favorite meal of the day, like his father, is breakfast.
The weather has been so nice lately, we’ve been spoiled with eating outside on the patio in the mornings. Everyday Mitch wakes up and the first thing he wants to do is rush downstairs to get his bagel with his Dad. Here he is before getting dressed, before combing his hair, and even before wiping the sleep from his eye… happily enjoying his bagel. (And I see he’s also quite happy to share his mouthful of food with the camera!)
